May Guest Speaker Warren Canning - "Development Flight Trials of the AVT Australia CM234 ISR Gimbal"

    1900-2100Kyneton Airfield , 1503 Kyneton-Metcalfe Road, Kyneton VIC 3444

Kyneton Aero Club member, Warren Canning, also a member of the Flight Test Society of Australia, recently gave a presentation at the annual FTSA Symposium on the Development Flight Trials of the AVT Australia (AVTA) CM234 Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR)  Gimbal, an Australian capability that has been selected for integration onto the Insitu Pacific “ Integrator” platform being supplied to the Australian Army as part of Land 129 Phase 3, the CM234 has also been chosen by BAE for its STRIX VTOL UAV announced at Avalon 2023.
Whilst primarily destined for use on UAS/RPAS platforms, AVTA determined that it would be more practical to undertake the developmental flight trials on a crewed platform due to the complexity of operating a large enough RPAS in civilian Class G Airspace.
Warren will repeat his FTSA presentation for our Club; the presentation will cover regulatory considerations, engineering approvals for carriage of the payload, locating a suitable ground range, operational factors, flight trials campaigns and the successful demonstration of the initial operational capability to the customer.
